Tron Lightcycle / Run

A series of videos to help Guest understand Virtual Queue and PhotoPass Lenses TRON Lightcycle / Run.

For these two videos I was the lead Motion Designer/Editor. This first video for the Virtual Queue, it was designed to live in the My Disney Experience App for Guest to learn more about how to book a VQ for Tron. I was able to work with Sarah, our teams visual designer, to help layout the assets for the video. The style guide was provided by Yellow Shoes and Sarah was able to repurpose the graphics to fit the needs our video. I also am the voice you hear for the recorded voice over on this video. It was fun working with the style of Tron and picking out energetic music that feels native to the franchise. All video assets were shot by our teams videographer Coral, or Yellow Shoes.

One of the most challenging parts of this video was being able to fit all spoken copy into the video while ensuring it didn’t feel like it dragged on for too long. For the main sections with the phone mock up I used the graphics in the background to keep a continuous motion happening as to not make the viewer think the video had stopped. My favorite part of this edit was the idea of showing all three touch points in a unique way. Coral did a fantastic job filming each one in a similar spot which allowed me to create a split screen transition between the three.

This second video was also designed to live in the My Disney Experience App and was an ask by Disney PhotoPass. The video goes over the new and exciting photo opportunities that pair perfectly with the new Tron attraction.

The opener of this video was inspired by the 2010 release of Tron with the circuit board graphics turning into a city blocks. Our video took the circuit board look and animated it into the Tron Identity ring. At the time of filming for this video the AR apps weren’t completely ready to be used. I worked with Mocha in post to track the final AR experience to the phone, creating a seamless final look.

The wonderful design of the lower third that Sarah created inspired me to create a glitch smear transition between all the copy. Our team and partners were super excited with how it turned out and made the video that much more exciting.

This footage was shot by Coral on our team and the photography provided by Disney PhotoPass.
